In the event of a life-threatening medical emergency, call emergency medical services at 911 immediately. DO NOT WAIT! Inform the emergency room staff that you are a patient of South Florida Orthopedic Group (formerly known as Meli Orthopedic Centers of Excellence), and they will contact us.
If you have an urgent medical need and need to talk to our after our regular hours, please call our Fort Lauderdale office at (954) 771-8177. A doctor is on-call 24 hours a day. Your call will be returned promptly.
At South Florida Orthopedic Group (formerly known as Meli Orthopedic Centers of Excellence), we accept workers’ compensation, Medicare, and most major insurance plans. Please contact your insurance provider to confirm coverage or with questions about your specific insurance provider's policies and coverage.
If your insurance plan requires you to pay a co-payment, co-insurance, and/or a deductible, you will need to pay at the time of your visit. For your convenience we accept cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.
If you have a question related to your bill or insurance, please contact our billing specialists at (954) 771-8177 in Fort Lauderdale.
If your insurance is an HMO/managed care plan and requires a referral from your primary care physician, please contact your primary care physician to obtain the referral.

Prescriptions and refills for established patients of South Florida Orthopedic Group (formerly known as Meli Orthopedic Centers of Excellence) are routinely issued during our regular office hours (see above). You can make your request by calling our office at (954) 771-8177 in Fort Lauderdale.
Refills are generally not issued during the evenings, weekends, or holidays, as the doctors may not have access to all your medical records during those times. It is helpful to anticipate your refill needs to avoid an interruption in your medication therapy.
